Inner driver assessment
Saboteurs at work

Test your inner operating system – in the form of your inner drivers or saboteurs
– and find out why you sometimes just can’t seem to change who you are

Why do I act the way I do?
“I don’t get it. Every time I press this button, I get an error message again.”
“Then just don’t press it!” — “But I have to!”
Do you also have that one button you’re better off not pressing?—Because every time someone presses it, you react automatically, almost as if on autopilot? It’s almost impossible to stop, even though you’d actually prefer to do otherwise?
It’s as if your reaction were preprogrammed by some kind of internal operating system, and you feel like you have no control over it?
What is driving you to act that way?

Can you change that? Of course!
Any operating system can be reprogrammed. But admittedly, doing it on your own is usually not easy.
Internal drivers or saboteurs are rules and behaviors—often internalized to varying degrees as part of the process of growing up—that we sometimes allow to influence us significantly, especially in stressful situations—usually unconsciously.
Psychologist Taibi Kahler developed the model of inner drivers in the 1970s.
With the following test, based on the work of Karl Kälin and Peter Müri from their book Leading Yourself and Others, you’ll learn in just a few minutes which drivers are particularly deeply embedded in your “operating system.”
For those who speak English, however, I would recommend the more nuanced analysis of the 10 inner saboteurs from Positive Intelligence® by Shirzad Chamine. In that case, send me a short E-Mail and you’ll receive a personalized link to the assessment (approx. 5 min).
Understanding your own drivers or saboteurs helps you deal more consciously with the next “error message” and serves as a good starting point for coaching.

– Let’s get started with the Inner Driver Test –
Immediately after completing the assessment, you’ll receive your score for each inner driver and see the characteristics of your strongest driver (no email required)
